Spend a day with us

At Netcare Akeso Montrose Manor, every day is designed to provide you with the structure, support, and therapeutic engagement necessary for eating disorder recovery. Your journey here is filled with meaningful activities that foster personal growth, emotional healing, and community connection, all aimed at helping you build the skills for lasting recovery.

The day begins with a moment of serenity, setting a peaceful tone for what’s to come. A mindfulness session helps you centre yourself and prepare for the day ahead. After this, breakfast is served, and you’ll be supported by staff as you engage in nourishing your body mindfully.

As the morning continues, therapeutic engagement deepens. You’ll participate in community support or group sessions, focusing on building self-worth, processing emotions, and working through themes related to your recovery.

On some days, you may engage in "life story" work, exploring the experiences that have shaped you and how they connect to your healing journey. Throughout the day there is time for personal reflection and grounding you so that you are fully engaged in the emotional work for the day.

Meals are a supported space where the team guides you to engage in mindful eating, pro-recovery behaviour and connection with others. After lunch, there is a period for individual therapy or written work, where you’ll have the space to reflect on your thoughts, emotions, and the progress you’re making. This time is essential for processing personal insights that contribute to your recovery.

The final groups in the afternoon move into recovery skills or connection groups. These sessions focus on developing emotional regulation, strengthening coping mechanisms, relationship skills, and learning tools that will support you as you move forward.

Additionally, movement therapy or attune sessions help foster emotional and physical awareness, ensuring your body and mind are aligned in the recovery process. Movement sessions include walks, yoga, pilates, and sports activities. Attune sessions focus on mind-body connection activities that support intuitive connection with oneself.

Throughout the week we engage in various therapeutic modalities.

Groups range from lecture type sessions to interactive discussion spaces, processing groups, art, drama, and creative expression groups. Clients are also supported to engage in recovery-in-action sessions that allow the practicing of pro-recovery skills. Clients will be supported to order drinks, have meals out, go shopping again, and engage in everyday activities without the influence of eating disorder symptoms.

The programme ends every week with a reflection space that allows a client to review the progress that they have made and set goals for the new week that lies ahead.

If this sounds like a process that you need, get more information on arranging an admission.
